How Lexworth.ai Made Research 90% Faster, 100% Accurate

The Company

Where do your billable hours actually go?

Legal research eats up roughly 17% to 40% of a lawyer’s working hours on average — about 5 to 15 hours per week, according to the ABA’s 2020 Profile of the Profession reportand that figure doesn’t even include drafting, filing, and case prep. Once you factor those in, research-and-writing-adjacent work can dominate most of the lawyer’s practice, pushing aside the courtroom advocacy clients actually care for.

That’s the gap Lexworth was built to close. A legal research platform powered by domain-specific AI and decades of judicial history, Lexworth helps law firms and in-house legal teams move faster without cutting corners — handling case research, citation verification, drafting support, and matter strategy, all in one place.

The platform understands how precedent is applied, how doctrines evolve, and how courts interpret conflicting authorities across jurisdictions. This domain-first architecture turns Lexworth into a second brain for legal research.

The payoff? Zero fabricated citations and up to 90% less time spent on research, so legal teams spend less time scavenging through data and more time advocating for their clients.

The Challenge

When print couldn't keep up

When we started, it was literally books, thousands of them, sitting in warehouses, waiting to go out of date,” recalls Saksham Gogia

Despite being a 65-year-old fixture in the market of printing, publishing, and shipping case law compendiums, Lexworth’s leadership saw room to rethink the model entirely.

Legal knowledge had always moved slowly — printed, bound, shipped, and shelved, and for decades, the industry accepted the delay as the cost of doing business.

Even worse, the model punished clients for the smallest changes: a single amendment to a single clause meant buying the entire book all over again. There was no way to update just the page that changed.

Soon, Lexworth found itself in an inescapable conundrum: a book needed updating almost as soon as it hit the shelves. Lexworth‘s core customers, lawyers, made their frustration clear:

“How many copies of the same book was one client supposed to buy in a year?”

That frustration wasn’t new;

An earlier push to digitize the business from physical books to a system that could incorporate changes as they happened had already stalled without the right technical partner in place. Progress crawled, and momentum never really built.

“We knew we had to go digital, but we didn’t have a dedicated technical team behind it yet,” Saksham explains.

Every time the problem resurfaced, it chipped away a little more patience, until there wasn’t any left. That was Lexworth’s tipping point. That was the moment everything changed.

The Solution

Deep Dive: What's really inside a judicial dataset?

“We were very careful and very picky this time. After failing for certain reasons the first time, we wanted to be sure about who we were going to work with. Says Saksham Gogia

For Lexworth, digitizing legal research meant starting over, from the ground up. A product built on decades of judicial history needed a partner who could handle that kind of weight

So Lexworth stepped outside its legacy publishing roots, vetted its options carefully, and brought in Navtech to do the heavy lifting.

“There was a huge dataset out there, but it came with a lot of problems. We had to adapt our data pipelines from time to time,” recalls Saksham.

But this wasn’t your typical dataset. Judicial decisions and judgments come with a level of sensitivity that isn’t obvious from the outside. So, when Navtech’s team stepped in to take this on, a fair question came up: “Could they pull this off without losing accuracy?”

The team at Navtech went straight to the source of the chaos and built the pipelines, piece by piece, to bring order to decades of fragmented legal data. Under the hood, the solution combines OCR processing, Elasticsearch indexing, vector embeddings, and Hybrid RAG — pairing context with keyword retrieval — to sharpen both search quality and citation accuracy.

The result: a platform built for both intelligence and trust.

Case by case, Navtech built the legal fluency the product needed — combining fine-tuning and retrieval technology with a growing understanding of how courts actually think.

Lexworth set the bar high, because the stakes demanded it. What started small grew into the foundation of a platform the legal community now depends on every day.

The Impact

Cutting research time up to 90%, without cutting corners

Today, Lexworth enables leading law firms, judicial bodies, and government institutions to move forward without worrying about data reliability or scale holding them back. The platform is supported across 8+ countries, including India, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and other key legal systems.

Looking back, Saksham credits the partnership with removing friction at every level – and the numbers back him up. Citations are now 100% verifiable, no more manual validation, no more uncertainty. Precedent coverage climbed from 60–70% to as high as 95%. More than 70% of licensed users actively use the platform, day in and day out. And the whole system runs 100% on premises, with zero reliance on external inference APIs.

Lexworth is continuously updated from verified government sources and runs entirely on secure, on-premise infrastructure. But what matters most isn’t the engineering; it’s what changed for the people using it every day. Less time chasing citations, less doubt about what’s accurate, and more time practicing law. That’s the real measure of the platform’s success — not the architecture behind it.

“I think we are one of the first products in India and among the first globally to embed AI directly into legal research, functioning as a paralegal or research assistant for lawyers, reducing by far more than 90% the time spent on this kind of work.”
